City Traders Imperium Outlines Risk-Focused Approach to Funded Trading Rules
The firm says its approach is to retain controls designed to manage risk while avoiding unnecessary restrictions on how traders execute their strategies.
DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- City Traders Imperium (CTI) says its funded trading rules are designed to distinguish between controls that manage financial risk and restrictions that dictate how or when traders can follow their strategies. The distinction matters in a sector where trading conditions vary widely between programs.
The PropFirmPickr 2026 Industry Report, based on data from 64 proprietary trading firms, found that 42 allow news trading, while only 23 allow positions to be held over the weekend.
Separate research published by EverFunded Research in September 2026 also found a mix of permitted and restricted policies across the program records for which trading-rule data was publicly available. Of 42 program records with an observed news-trading policy, 27 allowed it, 13 restricted it, and two did not allow it. Its dataset covers 37 firms and 228 program records overall, although coverage varies by rule category.
CTI says its approach is to focus restrictions on areas directly related to risk management, rather than impose additional limits on trading style.
Its current programs permit trading around news events and allow positions to remain open overnight and over weekends. Expert Advisor trading is also supported, with the precise permissions varying by program.
For CTI, these are separate from controls such as drawdown limits and other program-specific risk requirements.
“Traders should be able to focus on managing risk and executing their strategy rather than constantly checking whether a trade falls inside a particular time window,” said Martin Najat, Co-Founder of City Traders Imperium.
“Where a rule genuinely protects capital, it has a purpose. But we don’t believe in adding restrictions simply for the sake of having more rules.”
The approach can be particularly relevant to strategies that do not fit neatly within fixed trading windows.
Swing traders, for example, may hold positions for several days, while other strategies may involve trading around scheduled economic events or using automated execution. Restrictions in any of these areas can affect how closely a trader can follow an established strategy.
CTI says its aim is not to remove risk controls, but to separate them from rules governing trading style.
Each CTI program continues to apply its own trading and risk-management requirements, including drawdown limits and other program-specific conditions. At the same time, the firm says it has deliberately avoided some of the additional restrictions that can determine when positions must be closed or how a strategy is executed.
CTI says the results support its approach, with payouts up 30% year on year. The firm believes that giving traders room to trade their own way makes it easier to spot genuine skill and to support those who demonstrate consistent risk management over the long term, including through direct market execution.
For CTI, that alignment matters: the firm grows when its traders do, which it sees as the basis for a lasting relationship on both sides.
